Cathy Meals Photography, located in Carlisle, Pa. specializes in creating fine art portraiture of newborns, toddlers, children, and maternity. Her ability to capture timeless and unique ” from the heart” images will be keepsakes to cherish forever.
“Although the concept of being able to capture time on a single piece of paper has always intrigued me, it wasn’t until twenty five years after owning and operating a hair salon that I actually became more involved in picking up the camera. It’s been my passion since then (having children and grandchildren of my own) to create personalized, soft and often painterly forms of portraiture – all of which would portray those golden moments by capturing your child’s personality and individuality”.
Cathy prefers to take an unstructured approach to photographing your child by allowing them to explore and be comfortable with their surroundings. In turn, creating images with their most honest expressions that you will cherish for years to come.
Education began by taking a black and white course at a local community college. To further enrich her love for photography, she studied at the Veronica Cass Academy of Photographic Arts in 1999. Complimenting her training in the art of photo painting, Cathy then studied under the supervision of such well known names as Jeremy Sutton, Karen Sperling, and Helen Yancey.
The International Children’s Photography Membership recognized Cathy as Photographer of the Year in 2000-2001 as well as taking first place in the 1-18 month old category. In July, 2007, an article written by Karen Sperling for Professional Photographer Magazine, featured her (along with other photographers) on “Painted Portraits” showcasing her image with digitally enhanced and painted angel wings. She’s also been esteemed with “Carlisle’s Best” in Photography in 2007. Her images of bridal gowns have appeared numerous times in Wedding Dresses Magazine and she’s had the honor of photographing for multiple children’s books, including “Mother Earth and her Children: A Quilted Fairy Tale”, published in 2007, along with “Mother Earth ABCs” – a Quilters Alphabet and Storybook published in 2008.
Whether your needs are for indoor or outdoor photography. Cathy can capture expressions and moods that will forever fill your heart. Her specialty lies in working with children but also enjoys photographing high school and college seniors, public relations and glamor shots, families and landscapes.
